Popping Up

Zayn had been occupied with helping his friend Zuri settle into her school and home that he hadn’t gotten a chance to hang out with Deja in a while. But, since he had a free night he decided to pop in on her. He arrived at her house and realized how late it was when he went around back and threw rocks up at her window, hoping she was still up.

Deja was sitting at her desk in her room, working on jewelry. Her head shot up when she heard the light tapping on her window. She turned to it before getting out of her seat and making her way over. Deja looked out the window, smiling widely at the familiar silhouette before opening the window.

"Teen chick flick much?" She joked with a small chuckle.

Zayn chuckled "I didn't know if you had a big scary dad, or a intimidating mom that would yell at me for showing up this late"

Deja smiled and shook her head, "Date night tonight for my parents, you're fine." She said.

"Good, come let me in" he smiled walking back to the front door

"Okay." She grinned, closing her window before doing an excited happy dance. She quickly ran downstairs and opened the door for Zayn, "Hi."

"Hey" he said with a smile hugging her

Deja's smile grew as she hugged him back, "It's been a while Malik."

"I know, but I was helping a friend get use to the city and school and of course baseball never stops"

"Oh yeah, Barry Bonds." She giggled, "And now being a helpful hand? You're just Captain America, aren't you?" She teased.

"Some people seem to think that's my role in their life"

Deja frowned a little, "A bit overwhelming?"

"A bit, I don't want to disappoint anyone. So I just suck it up" he said taking off his coat

"Maybe you shouldn't do that all the time if you don't feel okay." She said, taking his coat and hanging it up.

"For some people I don't mind, for others I don't really have a choice"

"People like who?"

"Like my best Zuri, I don't mind helping her out, but when I have to do every little thing for my dad like baseball, it becomes frustrating"

Deja frowned, "I understand you want to respect your father, but there's got to be a time where you put your foot down."

"I know, but that day isn't today"

"I understand." She shrugged, "Just want you to be happy."

"Thanks for caring"

She smiled, "No problem."

"So you have the house all to yourself tonight?" he asked looking around

"Yep." She said, "Parents are out, no siblings, you came at a good time."

"Awesome. So what do you want to do?" he asked
